Milton AbbasThere are now six circular routes to the Macmillan Dorset Bike Ride so there is something for all cycling abilities, the great advantage being that all the rides are based around the same course.

Cyclists are very well supported on the day. Around the course as well as marshals to direct there are refreshment stops at regular intervals providing hot and cold drinks, bananas, rolls and snacks.

The Macmillan Dorset Bike Ride is organised and run entirely by volunteers. The entry fee and contributions from our sponsors only cover the cost of the event. It is our policy that 100% of the money collected by the cyclists goes directly to benefit people with cancer. We value and depend on the generosity of everyone who takes part, the sponsorship money you raise really does make a difference to the funding of our services. Last years event raised a fantastic £56,533.

Once again this year we will have an updated cycling jersey and the Macmillan Dorset Bike Ride T Shirt, these will be on sale in the day but we recommend you buy when entering.

As well as being able to buy a cycling jersey in 2008 you have the opportunity to bid for a jersey signed by olympic gold medalist Bradley Wiggins or former England cricket captain David Gower. Please see the terms and conditions page on this website for details.

After the ride and on receipt of sponsorship money a certificate is available for all cyclists. As well as a certificate of completion we will also award certificates of appreciation for outstanding sums raised. Bronze for over £125. Sliver for over £250 and Gold for over £500. There will also be prizes of appreciation for the top fund raiser.

You can take part in the Macmillan Dorset Bike Ride individually or as a team of four, so why not encourage a group of friends to join you, think of a team name and nominate a leader. Each rider must complete their own entry form and collect sponsorship. It is not necessary for all the team to follow the same route. To enter simply complete the entry form and send it to us with your entry fee and we will send you your sponsor form, map and all the information for the day.

Maybe the company you work for will support your team by paying entry fees or by contributing to the sponsor money you raise with a charity matching scheme.

This year the Macmillan Dorset Bike Ride is working in partnership with Bournemouth and Poole Active HealthLink. The Active 3x30 Club encourages people to be more active and enjoy a healthier life. Leading a healthier life can protect us from many kinds of cancer so why not get active and be ready for this years Macmillan Dorset Bike Ride, please visit www.active3x30.co.uk
