All the courses are circular routes and start in Broadstone near Poole, with a choice of 15, 25, 40, 50, 60 and 100 miles, there is something to suit everyone.

15 miles. This short but popular ride is ideal for families and those not used to cycling many miles. The route takes riders out to Lytchett Matravers where they can be refreshed with drinks and snacks ready for a circuit of the village which has some surprise views of Poole Harbour.

25 miles. A comfortable ride through the villages of Lytchett Matravers, Sturminster Marshall, and Shapwick, then a quiet ride through Charborough Park. The refreshment stop in Sturminster Marshall is essential for all four longer rides, get fuelled up before you "hit the wall"!

40 miles. The 40 mile ride follows the 25 mile course to Spetisbury then follows the River Stour to Blandford where cyclists head to Winterborne Stickland. The ride down the Winterborne Valley takes you to a Refreshment stop at Winterborne Kingston. The trip home is through villages of Bloxworth and Morden.

50 miles. The 50 mile ride follows the 60 mile course but omits the Dewlish/Cheselbourne loop

60 miles. The 60 mile ride follows the 40 mile course to Winterborne Stickland where it divides to take one of the easier ascents of Bulbarrow where cyclists can admire the views of North and South Dorset. From here the gentle descent takes you to refreshments in Cheselbourne before the trip home through Hilton and of course the picturesque Milton Abbas. The 60 mile course then joins the 40 mile cyclists at Winterborne Whitechurch.

100 miles. The 100 mile course consists of the 60 mile course followed by a second lap from Lytchett Matravers and omits the Dewlish/Cheselbourne loop.

The great point to remember is that all the routes are based around the same course so whilst you may have some time on quiet roads you will be soon meeting up with more cyclists. This can be ideal for friends who choose to cycle different distances, and of course the option of deciding your route on the day.

There is something for all cycling abilites in The Macmillan Dorset Bike Ride so why not get on your bike for Macmillan to help those affected by cancer.
